It's official - PimPim has retired from tennis
Swede Joachim Johansson has announced his retirement from professional tennis after three years with shoulder injuries.
"Taking that into account it is hard for me to reach my objectives and for that reason it makes it impossible for me to continue my challenge.
"This is a decision that has developed during the last month. Now I will set myself new goals but whatever happens I will always continue to play tennis." |
Good luck with everything PimPim - we hope to still see you around the tennis world.
Davis Cup Updates!
Finally! PimPim played the first singles rubber in last weekend's Davis Cup semi final. Although he was defeated by Andy Roddick in straight sets 7-6(4) 7-6(3) 6-3, it was great to see him back! Photos and an audio clip have been added to the site. I will add some videos (hopefully) during the next week when I get the chance.
On the Bangkok entry list
Well, PimPim is on the Bangkok entry list! The tournament starts on September 25 so let's see whether he has fully recovered.
Out of Rotterdam
Still out :( Regrettably, Tournament Director Richard Krajicek announced this evening that Mario Ancic (9), because of a strong flu, and Tim Henman (38), with a injured knee, cancelled appearance at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. Also Sebastien Grosjean (45) and Joachim Johansson (156) called in injured. The withdrawn players will be replaced by Philipp Kohlschreiber (63), Janko Tipsarevic (64), Daniele Bracciali (66) and Christophe Rochus (73). [...] |
Time off in February (?)
EDIT: Pim Pim hopes to be ready in time for Marseille but it's doubtful he'll be 100%. We'll just have to wait and see. According to Swedish news Pim Pim is not only out of Zagreb next week but for all of February as well :( He's still having problems with his toe and feeling some pain in his shoulder that was operated on last year. Thus no Davis Cup, no Marseille and no Rotterdam. Will he make it to Indian Wells? I hope so but no news just yet. Get well soon Pim Pim! > article in Swedish
