Kuznetsova and Johansson join NASDAQ-100 Open officials in distributing 15 truckloads of supplies to South Florida hunger and relief agencies

Key Biscayne, Fla. – For the ninth year in a row, international hunger relief organization Feed The Children will be a part of the events surrounding the NASDAQ-100 Open Tennis Tournament by delivering 15 truckloads of food and supplies to benefit tens of thousands of South Florida children and families in need.

Following a brief press conference on Monday, March 21, volunteers and staff from the NASDAQ-100 Open and Feed The Children distributed the supplies to more than 60 South Florida hunger relief agencies at Crandon Park Track, near the site of the tournament. By the end of the day, volunteers will have distributed more than 550,000 pounds of food, beverages, personal care products and paper goods, with a retail value of more than $1.2 million.

Star tennis players Svetlana Kuznetsova and Joachim Johansson, to be announced Monday, also will join the group for the press conference and then help to unload and distribute supplies during the event, hosted by the NASDAQ-100 Open and coordinated by Butch Buchholz, tournament chair and founder.

“We are so pleased to have this long-standing relationship with an organization as great as Feed The Children,” Buchholz said, expressing his support for the day’s event. “The NASDAQ-100 Open staff is delighted to be able to be a part of the solution to hunger for so many children and families right here in South Florida.”

“The hunger problem in Florida is real and it is serious,” said Larry Jones, president and founder of Feed The Children. “I want to personally thank Butch Buchholz and everyone at the NASDAQ-100 Open for joining us in taking a stand on behalf of the smallest and most helpless victims of hunger and poverty – the children.”

Several of Feed The Children’s corporate partners played a vital role in the day’s event by donating the food and supplies distributed. For making this event possible, Feed The Children and everyone at the NASDAQ-100 Open wish to extend appreciation to Allen’s Canning, Atkins Nutritionals, Beachnut, Clorox, Dole, Eden Foods, Hain Celestial, Georgia Pacific, Gerber, Mott’s, Tyson and Unilever.
