- Mother, Margareta, works in a bank.
- Born in Lund and spent all his childhood in Sodertalje, same hometown as former No. 1 and 11-time Grand Slam champion Borg.
- At age 14-15 remembers hitting with Borg at a tennis clinic when he was an up-and-comer.

QUOTES
_Memorable PimPim quotes
"You can't pick your brother but you can pick your boyfriend, so I hope she'll support me." - commenting on who girlfriend Jaslyn Hewitt will be cheering for...
"I was supposed to be playing golf with my dad in Scotland this weekend but I'll have to change my plans now."- his plans for the 2nd week of US Open 2004
"I didn't write as many autographs last year, that's for sure" - at Stockholm Open 2004
_What others have said about PimPim
"He's a typical Swede; good natured, a nice person and a pleasant guy to play with. I've known him since he was a junior and practised
with him quite a lot." - Todd Woodbridge
"It is also difficult not to be impressed when you speak to Johansson for he is eloquent, courteous but reserved, and seems to have a
wry sense of humour and self-deprecation." - Dan Oakes (article dated 15 January 2005)
"Let's give him credit, the guy serves out of a tree." - Andy Roddick after their QF match in the 2004 US Open
"But there was Joachim Johansson, a languid 6-foot-6 player from Lund, Sweden, beating Roddick at his own lethal hit-and-miss game. Johansson, also 22 years old, is the Euro Roddick." - ESPN article
"You give me his game and I'm going to make sure a lot of people aren't sleeping well . . ." - Andre Agassi
"Joachim is the kind of player who can make you sleepless the night before the match. He doesn't just have an enormous serve and
forehand but a big game in him." - Andre Agassi
"I don't think he's a candidate yet to win a Grand Slam, but he's a candidate to beat a Federer or a Hewitt, and he beat Roddick in the
U.S. Open. We are putting a bit of pressure on him but at the same time, he's responded to that in the last 12 months by coming out
and totally changing his game. He's gone to 11 in the world in 12 months, so I suppose we're a little surprised he's there already.
Now it remains to see what happens from here. He's been playing Davis Cup, and he's a great kid, so I think he can handle it." - Mats Wilander
